Friends and long-time followers of my work already know this, but my dad is fighting ALS. Also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease, it’s basically the scariest, most tortuous disease you can imagine — it leaves your mind fully in tact while it slowly paralyzes your body, wracking it with spasms and cramps while gradually robbing it of the ability to move, eat, speak, or breathe.
